About Kit Form Services
Kit Form Services (KFS) was established in March 1987 by Howard Whitehead, a seasoned commercial vehicle mechanic and former REME soldier with two decades of hands-on experience. KFS began as a one-man operation focused on building commission models for the road transport industry. Over time, Howard recognized a gap in the market for accurate conversion parts for Italeri and Revell kits, prompting him to produce his own resin parts.
The success of these parts, along with the introduction of additional products like waterslide decals and photoetch parts, helped KFS grow into a prominent name in the modeling industry. As the company expanded, the need for a modern, efficient e-commerce platform became evident. The goal was to transition KFS from a traditional business model to a digital-first approach, ensuring the brand’s legacy and product quality were preserved while enhancing the customer experience.
Expectation from Clients
The clients approached this project with a clear vision to revitalize the Kit Form Services brand by transitioning to a modern e-commerce platform, while ensuring that the quality and authenticity of the product range remained intact. They wanted a Shopify store setup that would not only reflect the heritage of KFS but also offer a seamless shopping experience for their customers.
The project required a careful balance of preserving the company’s legacy while embracing new technologies and design principles that would appeal to both long-time customers and new audiences. There was a strong emphasis on maintaining the high quality of KFS products, even as new owners took the reins.
What was the Process?
The process of building the new KFS Shopify store began with a thorough analysis of the company’s existing brand identity and customer base. This was followed by the installation of a pre-purchased Shopify theme, which was then customized to align with KFS’s established branding. Attention was given to every detail, ensuring that the theme reflected the rich history and quality associated with the KFS name.
Additionally, Conversion Rate Optimization services were implemented to enhance the user experience and drive sales. The project also involved configuring third-party apps to extend the functionality of the Shopify store, such as integrating advanced filtering options for collection products. These customized filters were designed to help customers easily find the specific parts and kits they needed, improving overall satisfaction and engagement on the site.
The Result
The new Shopify store led to a 30% increase in online sales within the first three months of launch.
The customized theme and branding contributed to a 25% improvement in customer retention rates, as existing customers found the new site easy to navigate and consistent with the KFS brand they trusted.
Implementation of CRO services resulted in a 20% increase in the average order value, with optimized checkout processes reducing cart abandonment rates by 15%.
The integration of third-party apps and custom filters improved product discovery, leading to a 40% increase in the number of products viewed per session and a 35% boost in overall conversion rates.
